Though Montana is a beautiful place to live, it is a bit remote. Pediatric care for children with serious medical conditions is limited. Our mission is to help families without the financial resources reach pediatric medical treatment facilities.
We assist Montana children ages 0 – 18 years with serious medical conditions that require treatment outside their community. The average age of children we help is 6 years old.
Below is a list of medical conditions that they face:
|Cancer||Brittle Bone Disease|
|Brain Tumors||Spinal Muscular Atrophy|
|Congenital Heart Conditions||Microdeletion Syndrome|
|DiGeorge Syndrome||Cystic Fibrosis|
|Bilateral Hearing Loss||Crohn’s Disease|
OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS TO A HOSPITAL WE GO…..
The majority of the families we help must travel outside the state to get the medical care they need for their child. Usually, the treatment is located in a children’s hospital of a metropolitan area. The top destinations for care are
- Seattle (10 hours, 2 mountain passes)
- Spokane (5 hours, 1 mountain pass)
- Salt Lake City (10 hours, 1 mountain pass)
OKAY, THEN WHAT?
Once at a pediatric care facility, either insurance or the children’s hospital will have financial resources to pay for medical treatment. For the Children, Inc. picks up where insurance leaves off. We assist with travel expenses including transportation, lodging, and meals. Unfortunately, most of our families will need to make multiple trips. With our help, this is one less thing the family has to worry about.
